An amazing weekend of highs and... more highs! This challenge trek will see you crossing the breadth of rugged and exciting Snowdonia and summiting the 15 highest peaks in Wales. Each one of them over 3000ft, and grouped into three distinct ranges of hills; the Snowdon Massif, the Glyders, and The Carneddau.

We shall set off early on Friday morning on our climb, and will finish each with a hearty meal each evening after a full day's trekking. On Saturday we shall have a little time to relax and then on Sunday morning, after a chilled out breakfast we shall begin our return journey home, maybe with a brief stop in Betws Y Coed to check out some equipment bargains at one of the Outdoors Outlet shops.

Accommodation

Simple, but clean, bunkhouse accommodation is booked for you. We shall be based in Llanberis. There are good hot showers. You will need to bring a towel (if you would like to wash!) and a warm sleeping bag. Your breakfasts are also provided. Please advise if you are a vegetarian. In Llanberis you can get snacks, and good food in the evenings. We shall probably (hopefully) have a celebratory evening meal on Saturday after the successful completion of our challenge.

Medical Issues

A high level of fitness is required due to the nature of the terrain over these particular peaks. Numerous long, steep and sometimes rocky ascents will be encountered and the ground will be unstable and broken under foot in certain places – although we shall move at a speed suitable for the slowest team member. NB. We shall be climbing Snowdon and the other high peaks making ascents of over 1500m on both days - hence these will be harder days walking than previously experienced on Adventure Café weekends - this is an excellent reason to get some special training in! The team may at some stage break down into sub teams in order to accommodate different walking speeds – at all times you will be accompanied by an experienced Mountain Leader. At no time will you be pushed into working harder than you feel comfortable with (unless specific instructions are received from you personally to the contrary!!)

Special Notes

Mountain walking in Snowdonia can be a mildly hazardous activity. Certain minor injuries are commonly associated with trekking and are unavoidable—twisted ankles and knees, minor grazes etc. There are some extremely dangerous crags in Snowdonia—which if treated with caution do not present an undue risk, however, you should always follow the leader’s instruction. If you do not follow his instruction, no responsibility can be taken for your safety. It is important to bring plenty of food and snacks, as well as water. Nutrition and hydration form an essential part of an enjoyable day in the hills. Please ensure you have all the required equipment as specified in the kit list, this is for your safe enjoyment of the mountain environment, and to protect you from unexpected weather conditions. Safety Information

By nature all activities contain an element of risk.Your leader will be first aid qualified and will carry the appropriate safety kit for the activity, such as mountain safety shelters, walking rope and from time to time mobile radios. Safety equipment carried will be appropriate to trip. The leader's primary role is to ensure your safety, but it is your responsibility to listen to their guidance and instructions.

Weather

Due to Snowdonia’s position on the Western Seaboard it bears the brunt of prevailing weather systems coming in moisture laden from the Atlantic. At this time of year the weather could go either way from warm temperatures to freezing cold – so be ready for anything – make sure you pack according to the list! Remember that layers are the key, allowing you to adjust your level of warmth more easily. We will almost certainly experience some rain during the weekend, so make sure you have suitable waterproof gear—both top and leggings.
