A full family focused weekend of walking in the stunning mountains of Snowdonia – rising to encompass several peaks of over 1000m. This is exciting and spectacular walking scenery for all the family.
We shall be encountering the spectacular scenery of the Snowdonia National Park. Starting with light to moderate hikes on the first day to prepare us for our high point which will be Yr Wddfa (Snowdon) – the highest point in England and Wales at 1085m. As well as being a fun packed and energetic weekend, it is also one with special educational, geological and ecological interest. Snowdonia is an amazing place to spend weekend.
At this time of year the weather could go either way from blazing warm temperatures to freezing cold – so be ready for anything – make sure you pack according to the list! Medical Issues
A good level of fitness is required for this weekend – several long steep hills will be encountered and sometimes the ground will be broken and rocky underfoot. We shall move at a speed suitable for the whole group, and all ages.
NB. We shall be climbing Snowdon and making an ascent of around 1000m over the weekend. This will provide you with a good training platform and experience for any forthcoming expeditions, as well as spending some great time with your family, going through the same exciting challenge...
The team may at some stage break down into sub teams in order to accommodate different walking speeds – at all times you will be accompanied by an experienced Mountain Leader. At no time will you be pushed into working harder than you feel comfortable with (unless specific instructions are received from you personally to the contrary!!)
Minimum age for the trip is 10 years of age, and there is no maximum age so there is no getting out of it that way either!
Special Notes
A special rate is available for children under 16. Mountain walking in Snowdonia can be a mildly hazardous activity. Certain minor injuries are commonly associated with trekking and are unavoidable—twisted ankles and knees, minor grazes etc.
The routes chosen for this group are specifically based around young family member also attending the weekend, special safety precautions are always at the forefront of importance when it comes to this.
There are some extremely dangerous crags in Snowdonia—which if treated with caution do not present an undue risk, however, you should always follow the leader’s instruction. If you do not follow their instruction, no responsibility can be taken for your safety.
It is important to bring plenty of food and snacks, as well as water.
Nutrition and hydration form an essential part of an enjoyable day in the hills. Please ensure you have all the required equipment as specified in the kit list, this is for your safe enjoyment of the mountain environment, and to protect you from unexpected weather conditions.

Safety equipment carried will be appropriate to trip. The leader's primary role is to ensure your safety, but it is your responsibility to listen to their guidance and instructions.
Weather
Due to Snowdonia’s position on the Western Seaboard it bears the brunt of prevailing weather systems coming in moisture laden from the Atlantic.
At this time of year the weather could go either way from warm temperatures to freezing cold – so be ready for anything – make sure you pack according to the list! Remember that layers are the key, allowing you to adjust your level of warmth more easily.
We will almost certainly experience some rain during the weekend, so make sure you have suitable waterproof gear—both top and trousers.
