About The Adventure Cafe Team!

Richard of the Adventure Cafe Staff Richard - loves to get out there and amongst it. His wealth of experience ranges from cycling across the Tibetan Plateau, to swimming the English Channel as part of a relay team, rowing the straits of Gibraltar, and more recently, extensive Rock Climbing. Richard had the original idea for the Cafe whilst pedalling through Iran in 1999, it may have taken a while - but eventually the Cafe became reality... and now he spends his time leading groups, enthusing others towards the world of Adventure, and trying to design itineraries that help people access the great outdoors safely and help them to develop a passion for our fantastic planet! Richard has recently been accepted as a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, and is approaching his winter International Mountain Leader Assessment.

Nadine of the Adventure Cafe StaffNadine - has always had a thirst for Adventure and was a key part of The Human Power Round the World Expedition around the world helping organise much of the logistics... she's recently been to Tuscany, Iceland and Cambodia, and enjoys trekking - currently preparing for Mountain Leader Award, a bit of biking, and some paddling... favourite country - China - favourite food - Nasi Goreng!

Jagat of the Adventure Cafe StaffJagat - is our local man on the ground in the Himalayas - extremely resourceful, very knowledgable and a positive asset to all of our operations in Nepal - but also in India and Tibet, Jagat has been working with us now for many years. He originates from high in the mountains in the Jiri district of Nepal - at the foot of the Everest Base Camp Trail. Jagat always gives one hundred and ten percent to any of our local adventures in the Himalayas. Jagat's specialities include trekking, discovery tours, and accompanying Cycling Adventures.

Iain from Adventure Cafe Iain - is Adventure Cafe's knowledge in Snowdonia! Based in the mountains, out daily in the hills, and regularly to be found both exploring new routes, and climbing exciting mountain routes, he is a great source of knowledge about North Wales. He is active in leading Three Peaks, Welsh 3000s, and other itineraries in The Lakes and Yorkshire. Iain is a trained climbing leader, qualified Mountain Leader Summer, and trained Winter Mountain Leader - more importantly though - he is a great guy to spend time in the hills with!

Jason of Adventure Cafe HQ Jason - started working with us in early 2010. His infectious, and sometimes delirious enthusiasm, is often just the tonic you're going to need when Jason meets you at the roadside on one of our Cycle Challenges. Jason is a keen runner and Triathlete, and has been in the thick of the action this summer - from Aberdeen to Dubrovnik, and from night rides to night time on Scafell Pike, he's certainly been getting stuck in! Fave saying: 'Go on Nige - Timetrial it!'

Kirsty of Team Adventure Cafe StaffKirsty- 'The Stig' Bartlett is the brains, and the organisation behind the operation at Adventure Cafe HQ. She handles the logistics behind our myriad of UK and European Events, with a calm and efficient head! Her knowledge of these events, and her attention to detail are second to none, and she will ensure your event runs without a hitch! Kirsty also makes a star appearance on a few events each year, being an indispensable part of our support team on cycling and trekking events. Mostly though, she is an elusive, and mysterious person, you'll probably speak to her on the phone, but her true identity is a closely guarded secret! Favourite Activity - Abseiling at Avon Gorge!

Hassan of the Adventure Cafe StaffHassan- runs the majority of our itineraries in Morocco - born in the mountains, lives in the mountains .... and most at home in the mountains. we even met him first - you guessed it - In The Mountains! His father , and his fathers father were all from the atlas Mountains - and he is a truly safe and reliable pair of hands for both trekking, and discovery trips as well as desert and cycling itineraries. What you probably wouldn't guess - is that Hassan is also a ski instructor! He has climbed Mount Toubkal more times than you have probably walked to the shops... and he has his own troop of donkies! He is a well respected member of his village.... no-one knows the area of Toubkal like our man Hassan!
