Bavarian Alps 3 Peaks Trek

Trek Adventure

Get ready for beautiful alpine scenery, wonderful wild flowers, hearty Bavarian Cuisine, and lashings of good clean fun. You will be staying in predominantly valley village accommodation, but with some of the most amazing high-level trekking to be found in this part of Europe! With traditional Bavarian hospitality awaiting you, and clean mountain air, and a tough challenge ahead - why not join us on this little know, but mountain challenge.

You will fly in to Salzburg, and you will be met by your Adventure Cafe leaders, who will ensure your transfer to our first overnight in the mountain spa town of Bad Reichenhall. If you arrive early enough, why not consider trying out the thermal baths?

From here, the following morning we shall put our best foot forward, and trek high up from Bad Reichenhall, over to Inzell, via the lofty peak of Hochstaufen.

After an overnight in the stunning mountain town of Inzell, we shall once again head out - this time pushing ourselves high to the peak of Rauschberg. We shall then head round and down for our 2nd over night in Inzell.

Our final day of trekking sees us (provided you have the energy) climbing once more over to Bad Reichenhall - this time via Zennokopf. Our final descent round will see us back to the beginning once more, where a final celebratory meal will await, and tales of three epic mountain days.

The next day transfers will return you to Salzburg Airport, with tired legs, but some incredible memories.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Flight into Salzburg, transfer to Bad Reichenhall. Time to explore the city before the evening briefing. Optional light afternoon walk or time to visit the town spa.

Day 2 - Trek from Bad Reichenhall to Inzell. Approx 6-7 hours -20km.

Day 3 - Trek to Rauschberg then back round to Inzell, for one more evening in this beautiful German town. Approx 6- 7 hours -20km.

Day 4 - Trek from Inzell back over to the spa town of Bad Reichenhall. Another 20km day! 6-7hrs. We shall enjoy spectacular views from Zennokopf.

Day 5 - Just time for one last glimpse of this incredible mountain range before we head for the airport - and home again.

The four nights are spent in hotel accommodation. This will be of a three start or equivalent standard.

What is a Level 3.5 Trekking Challenge Like?

These challenges are either longer, higher, or span several days. In the case of single day events, you can expect up to 12 hours trekking. In the case of a multi day trek, you can expect lower daily durations - but of course - the effort is sustained over a longer period. You need to be keen on physical exercise for these events, and to enjoy taking exercise, and to do it regularly. Longer duration long haul treks are likely to be easier in terms of the physical walking, however, you will need to be more resilient - due to simple living conditions - ie using same clothes for several days, lack of washing facilities, simple food, and maybe camping - this forms an integral part of the challenge.

How Fit Do I need to be to join a Level 3.5 ‘Trek’?

You need to have good endurance for these events. You must be used to doing very long walks in the countryside - 7 hours + . You should be doing regular exercise - possibly with some running. Your running speed will be around 10-11 minute miling, and you should be able to run a minimum of 4 to five miles. If you do not run, you should be concentrating on other types of exercise - but for longer periods of time (i.e. sessions in excess of 1.5 hrs.) - these other forms of exercise should be at a moderate to high level.

Medical Issues

Please note, it is extremely important for this physical challenge that you are in good health. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, please consider carefully whether you should be joining the challenge. Please ensure you fill in the booking form accurately and honestly, this is important. In the case of serious conditions (epilepsy, diabetes, heart conditions, recent illness or operations), please discuss the challenge with your GP. Please also ensure you notify us of any allergies or similar.

You should be used to walking reasonable distances each day to contemplate this trek. It requires stamina and good aerobic fitness - but good willpower will also come in handy! Failure to disclose medical conditions is a serious omission - that could have serious repercussions on any of our challenges.

Special Notes

Please note that two nights on this trek will see us staying in simple accommodation. This has always been a key part of this challenge. We shall do everything to ensure you have a great time - and you will have good clean accommodation, and washing facilities.

Visas / Redtape

You should be sure to have good personal insurance that will cover you overseas - and will cover the trekking nature of this trip. You should also carry the appropriate documentation to ensure you do not have to pay for hospital care in Europe.

Expect the weather to be pleasant with daily temperatures into the twenties - although we could experience colder temperatures at higher altitudes.
