Snowdonia Multi Activity Weekend

Multi Activity Adventure

Go wild in Wales, amongst some of the UK's finest mountain scenery, exploring by the cleanest and most ecological means – trek, canoe and bike only! We shall be travelling from Llanberis over the high passes of Pen y Pass and down the famous Ogwen and Llanberis Valleys in the heart of Snowdonia national park. Over the two days you will cycle along Snowdonia’s famous valleys, descend its volcanic rock and scramble to a summit of one of its majestic peaks. Day two will allow you to explore Snowdonia from a different perspective. You will take to the water by canoe before you experience the faster flowing white water of canyoning. On returning from the gorge you will be able to say you have truly conquered Snowdonia!

After your arrival on Friday evening, you will be briefed on the following day's adventure. We shall then get an early night after preparing equipment. Saturday will be an early start - as we have a lot of ground to cover on our exploration of Snowdonia! From our base in Llanberis at the bottom of Snowdon, we shall first tackle the beautiful Llanberis pass on your way to the high point of Pen y Pass 360m. Descending from this high point you will continue to sweep along the beautiful Llynnau Mymbyr before making the turn at Capel Curig and into the Ogwen Valley and towards the shark fin slopes of Tryfan. As Tryfan draws closer you will first tackle a short abseil before scaling the black ridgeline of Tryfan and Adam and Eve at the summit. On your return to the valley floor you will then take to the roads once more for the final ride back to Llanberis and a hot pub meal.

Day two will see you take on the wild waters of Snowdonia firstly cannoning followed in the afternoon by Canoeing after which you can say you conquered Snowdonia.

What is a Level 3.5 Multi Activity Challenge Like?

These challenges are either longer, higher, or span several days. In the case of single day events, you can expect around 8-10 hours of full on multi activity. In the case of a multi day challenge, you can expect a lower daily duration - but of course - the effort is sustained over a longer period. You need to be used to challenging physical exercise for these events, and to enjoy your training, and to do it regularly. Longer duration challenges are likely to be easier in terms of the physical effort, however, you will need to be more resilient - due to simple living conditions - i.e. using same clothes for several days, simple food, and maybe camping - this forms an integral part of the challenge.

How Fit Do I need to be to join a Level 3.5 ‘Multi Activity Challenge’?

You need to have good endurance for these events. You must be used to doing longer days in the outdoors - 7-8 hours. You should be doing regular exercise - with some intense outdoors exercise. You should be used to long rides, long walks, and all round challenging days. You need to have balanced the need for multiple forms of exercise in your training - including some upper body work, and some flexilbility.

Weather

This event is a summer adventure challenge - and typically runs in June or July - weather should be warm (ish) - but at all times you should expect a mixture! From wet, to cold (especially on top of Pen y Pass and Y Garn) or equally roaring hot too! You should be prepared with clothing to cover all eventualities. You should also prepare for rapid weather changes too - which are normal.
