Starting in Manchester we'll head to Sheffield, Nottingham, Birmingham, Oxford, London and finishing in Brighton! There is a challenge for everybody but are you up to the 6 day epic?!

Starting in Manchester we'll head over the peaks down the legenday winnats pass for a hardcore first day! Don't dispair however as the views are incredible and will certainly take your mind off those tiring leg muscles. Day 2+3 we'll head south west across the heart land of England winding through some classic back roads before arriving into Birmingham. Day 4 is has a sting in the tail as we skirt near to the cotswolds so expect the odd sneaky climb and views of rolling hills through out. Day 5 sees us set off from Oxford for London tackling the Chilterns on the way. A morning of steep climbs soon turns into a busy afternoon as we negotiate through the hustle and bustle of London for a well deserved celebration in the capital. The final day sees us roll down to the coast over some great roads on the south downs where 1 final challenge climb awaits at just 5kms to the finish!

Day 1- Manchester to Sheffield- roughly 80kms over hilly roads with some epic views across the peak district.

Day 2- Sheffield to Nottingham- a 65km day with some steady undulation

Day 3- Nottingham to Birmingham- 92kms across the black country, expect some short sharp climbs and a steady finish into Birmingham

Day 4- Birmingham to Oxford- A solid day of riding, we'll skirt around the cotswolds with a total of 120ks covered!

Day 5- Oxford to London- Total distance tbc- A day of two halves, a morning of challenging climbs to cross the chilterns followed by an afternoon of urban riding as we make our way into London.

Day 6- London to Brighton- 110kms as we head to the south coast, we'll head out of London bright and early to avoid the worst of the traffic and make our way through the South Downs

What is a Level 2.5 Cycling Challenge Like?

For this type of challenge - you can expect either distance (up to 80km), or altitude gain - around 5-600m. But not both! If you climb, then the distance will be less, if you cover the distance, then the altitude gain will be little. Typically road conditions will be good - although there are exceptions to this. If you encounter rough road conditions (or it is a mountain bike challenge), then the distance / altitude will be reduced. These events would suit someone of good all round fitness, who takes exercise regularly - without neccessarily being of high specific cycling fitness.

How Fit Do I need to be to join a Level 2.5 ‘Bike Ride’?

You must be active and with moderate fitness level. You should be taking regular exercise, consisting of regular bike rides and possibly other sports (swimming / football etc.) You should be comfortable in undertaking long country rides of up to 6 hours or 60 km in the lowland English countryside. Your training rides will encounter a few reasonable length hills.

Medical Issues

Please note, it is extremely important for this physical challenge that you are in good health. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, please consider carefully whether you should be joining the challenge. Please ensure you fill in the booking form accurately and honestly, this is important. In the case of serious conditions (epilepsy, diabetes, heart conditions, recent illness or operations), please discuss the challenge with your GP. Please also ensure you notify us of any allergies or similar.

It requires stamina and good aerobic fitness - but good willpower will also come in handy! Failure to disclose medical conditions is a serious omission - that could have serious repercussions on any of our challenges.

There will also be a support vehicle available in case of emergency - but this is only useful if you are in contact with the vehicle / leader. The leader will attempt to ride towards the front of the group for this ride, and the support vehicle towards the back. The team will regroup at the start and end of each climb on this ride.

Mild warm and sunny weather. Be prepared for hot and sunny conditions - so be prepared to protect against the sun. Equally however, we could get unlucky! The higher mountain cols, even in summer can get very chilly, so pack rain jackets and warmer clothes too, just in case!

Notes on Cycling Events

This is our standard range of Cycling Challenges in the UK, Europe and further afield. However, we offer completely tailormade itineraries to your specification. Call us to discuss! Please note that for overseas point to point cycling challenges we can transport soft cases for bike transport - but not hard cases, due to space limitations on board our support vehicles. On all our cycling events, please pack sensibly and bring a reasonably sized soft holdall type bag. To participate in an overseas Adventure Cafe challenge - you must carry Travel Insurance (to be for the activity you are participating in, and to include repatriation to the UK). Please also note that you should have a good level of cycling experience and be competent to handle your bike. We ride on roads shared with other vehicles - and you need to be able to deal with this safely.
