                        Day One
Flights into Amman and transfer to hotel to meet your Adventure Café guides and your fellow team. We’ll head out for dinner, during which we’ll provide an event briefing and describe what to expect in the upcoming week. Hotel accommodation.

Day Two
Transfer to Dana, where we’ll meet our local guide to lead us through the Dana Nature Reserve, a unique geological phenomenon with huge, rounded peaks. You’ll stay in an Eco Lodge in twin rooms close to the reserve.

Day Three
We’ll drive an hour south to reach the town of Wadi Musa, the gateway to Petra. We’ll walk with our local guide Abdullah, who grew up in Wadi Musa, as he describes the local area, the history, and the incredible ancient architecture of Petra. We’ll have plenty of time to explore the area and the ancient wonder of the world.
We’ll stay in a basic hotel in Wadi Musa.

Day Four
We’ll venture away from development and into the Wadi Rum Reserve. Home to the Bedouin, inhabitants who have lived and flourished in the harsh climate for thousands of years. It is the setting for Lawrence of Arabia, a set for Matt Damon’s The Martian, and peppered with vast sandstone mountains. Today we’ll meet our local guide and take a jeep transfer through the desert to the base of Jabal Umm ad Dami, the tallest peak in Jordan. It is a 3-hour journey to the summit but is well worth the effort; the summit views are clear as far as the eye can see into stunning remote desert. We’ll drive back to our desert base camp where we’ll dine on fresh, local dishes, sit around the campfire, watch the sun set and chat amongst a clear, starry night.

Day Five
Today is a rest day for the body but not for the eyes. We’ll hop into jeeps and spend a day touring through sand dunes and skirt round sandstone cliffs. We’ll venture into remote terrain to explore caves, trek into canyons, and admire ancient stone carvings.
We’ll return to our desert base camp for another traditional evening experience.

Day Six
We’ll explore quieter areas of the Wadi Rum Reserve using a different form of transport used by the Bedouin since their arrival thousands of years ago: camels. We’ll ride camels for a slower, more intimate tour of staggering sandstone towers and deep canyons.
We’ll spend a final night in our desert base camp. We’ll eat local cuisine in front of the campfires and reminisce about our journey story so far, whilst also listening to stories told by our Bedouin guides.

Day Seven
After watching the sun rise over the desert, we’ll leave the Reserve and transfer to a low point of the trip, in fact the lowest point on Earth: the Dead Sea. We’ll swim, float, and relax in the world-famous salt lake sat at 430m below sea level. We’ll be based on a beach for the day close to a few bars for us to celebrate the trip. In the afternoon, we’ll transfer back to Amman, the Jordan capital, for a final celebratory meal.
Accommodation will be a hotel in Amman.

Day Eight
You’ll have the day to yourself depending on your flight time. There is plenty to do in the capital, such as the Roman Amphitheatre and the Jordan Museum. Transfers are cheap, short, and simple from the city centre to the airport.

What is a Level 3.0 Trekking Challenge Like?

These challenges are either longer, higher, or span several days. In the case of single day events, you can expect up to 9 hours trekking. In the case of a multi day trek, you can expect a lower daily duration, but of course the effort is sustained over a longer period. You need to be keen on physical exercise for these events, and to enjoy taking exercise, and do it regularly. Longer duration long haul treks are likely to be easier in terms of the physical walking, however you will need to be more resilient, due to simple living conditions. UK single day or weekend level 3 treks are suited to walkers and trekkers with some previous history of upland walking or alternatively a good amount of lowland training behind them.

How Fit Do I need to be to join a Level 3.0 ‘Trek’?

You need to have good endurance for these events. You must be used to doing very long walks in the countryside; 7 hours plus . You should be doing regular exercise, possibly with some running. Your running speed will be fairly steady; nothing too fast, and you should be able to run a minimum of 4 miles. If you do not run, you should be concentrating on other types of exercise but for longer periods of time (i.e. sessions in excess of 1.5 hrs). These other forms of exercise should be at a moderate to high level. e.g. spinning, circuits, swimming, or other sports.
