Snowdon by Night

Trek Adventure

Take on the highest point in night! At a height of 1,085m Yr Wyddfa towers over its neighbours and when you arrive to the summit just in time for sunrise you will be rewarded with a glorious and beautiful moment overlooking Snowdonia National Park, with views over the sea across to the Isle of Man and Ireland. A different and uniquely challenging discovery of Snowdonia's highest peak.

Your trek to the summit of Snowdon will see a very very early start as you set off from Llanberis with your headtorches on to reach the Summit in time for sunrise. Approaching from the North our trail will follow the Snowdon Llanberis Path through a wide range of mountainous environments and allow you to take in a spectacular view upon reaching the summit and you will be able to see where you cam on teh way back down! A unique experience not to be missed!

What is a Level 2.5 Trekking Challenge Like?

For this type of challenge - you can expect either distance (up to 12 or 15 miles), or altitude gain - around 1000m. But not both! If you climb, then the distance will be less, if you cover the distance, then the altitude gain will be little. Typically conditions underfoot will be good - although there are exceptions to this. If you encounter rough conditions underfoot, then the distance / altitude will be reduced. These events would suit someone of good all round fitness, who takes exercise regularly - without neccessarily being of high fitness.

How Fit Do I need to be to join a Level 2.5 ‘Trek’ ?

You must be active and with moderate fitness level. You should be taking regular exercise, consisting of regular walks and possibly other sports (swimming / football etc.) You should be comfortable in undertaking long country walks of up to 7+ hours or 15+ miles in the lowland English countryside.

Medical Issues

Please note, it is extremely important for this physical challenge that you are in good health. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, please consider carefully whether you should be joining the challenge. Please ensure you fill in the booking form accurately and honestly, this is important. In the case of serious conditions (epilepsy, diabetes, heart conditions, recent illness or operations), please discuss the challenge with your GP. Please also ensure you notify us of any allergies or similar.

You should be used to walking reasonable distances each day to contemplate this trek. It requires stamina and good aerobic fitness - but good willpower will also come in handy! Failure to disclose medical conditions is a serious omission - that could have serious repercussions on any of our challenges.

Safety Information

By nature all activities contain an element of risk. Your leader will be first aid qualified and will carry the appropriate safety kit for the activity, such as mountain safety shelters, walking rope and from time to time mobile radios. Safety equipment carried will be appropriate to trip. The leader's primary role is to ensure your safety, but it is your responsibility to listen to their guidance and instructions.

Due to Snowdonia’s position on the Western Seaboard it bears the brunt of prevailing weather systems coming in moisture laden from the Atlantic. At this time of night the weather could go either way from cool to freezing cold so be ready for anything. Make sure you pack according to the list! Remember that layers are the key, allowing you to adjust your level of warmth more easily. We will almost certainly experience some rain during the trek, so make sure you have suitable waterproof gear both top and leggings.
