Multi Activity Virtual Event

Multi Activity Adventure

This Autumn/Winter/Spring – take on our brand new Virtual multi activity challenge. This can be geared towards your requirements with a 75km being our standard format. We will design online routes for you to visually see participants move along through the day. The location can be anywhere in the world! While we can't always physically be together right now, we can connect and challenge ourselves virtually led by our Adventure Team. We have designed a unique challenge for you to embark on in your own way. Your mission is to travel 75km virtually! Starting with a bodywork out session using resistance bands to replicate paddling endurance or take on a 9km row or swim if preferred. We will then take on 50km cycle with the choice of using rollers or a turbo trainer and then a 16km walk or run! You will definitely feel the burn after this one testing your endurance and strength right across all your different muscle groups in one mammoth day.

So what does a virtual multi actiivty event look like?! Well expect a high energy, intense day of exercise utilising all of your key muscle groups... You will be guided online by your Adventure Cafe Leaders experienced in delivering these type of events and opffered support along the way. We will be able to track your progress and offer platforms for you to share your progress and results with the rest of your team. We can base the event on a real route if this suits. Expect a high tempo soundtrack to keep you going as well!

To enter this event you should be in good health and used to regular exercise. You are going to push yourself physically—and therefore you should not have any serious medical conditions. If you have any doubt, you should take this event description and make an appointment to discuss with your GP.

Itinerary

· 07.00—Join the video chat online over your breakfast for your safety briefing.

 · 07:30—Begin a series of 9 arm & torso exercises (to include press ups on knees, sit ups, arm circles, planks, air punches and a range of resistance band stretches). Alternatively feel free to use a rowing machine or go for a 2.5km swim! We embrace creativty so let us know if you want to do something unique. It's up to you how you go about making up the distance!

 · 09.30—Take on 5 x 10km loops from right outside your house or any other desired location or use an exercise bike at your local gym or at home! If cycling isnt your thing then how about booking on with an instructor at your local climbing gym and see how many climbs you can achieve within a set period?

 · 14:30—Lunch Break and online check in

 · 15:00—Trek a local 4km loop four times (10 miler).

 · 18:00—Online check and run down of individual successes.

   Challenge complete!

Accommodation

The virtual event will run entirely from your choice of base, from right outside your house, within your house or at your preferred nearest green space to explore. If you are unsure, we can help plan your route out.

What is a Level 4.0 Multi Activity Challenge Like?

These challenges are long in duration, high altitude, or span several days. In the case of single day events, you can expect around 12 hours of full on multi activity. In the case of a multi day challenge, you can expect lower daily durations - but of course - the effort is sustained over a longer period. You need to love physical exercise for these events, and to enjoy your training, and to do it regularly. Longer duration challenges are likely to be easier in terms of the physical effort, however, you will need to be more resilient - due to simple living conditions - ie using same clothes for several days, simple food, and maybe camping - this forms an integral part of the challenge.

How Fit Do I need to be to join a Level 4.0 ‘Multi Activity Challenge’?

You are now moving into the realms of serious challenges - where you are likely to encounter carrying equipment, cycling on rougher terrain, sleep deprivation, or high altitude, or intense multi activity events along the lines of adventure triathlons. In any case - be prepared for an event which is going to take you to the limits of your comfort zone. Days will be up to 12 hours, or slightly less if the event stretches over several days. The severity of the challenge may be magnified by various factors - as you will need to be more resilient - due to simple living conditions, simple food, variable weather conditions and maybe camping - these form a part of the challenge. You need to be in good shape to undertake any of these events, and you need to be training regularly. The height gain each day is greater than for level 3 - so expect plenty of hills! For multi activity events please work on your all round fitness.
