Trek Adventure

Climbing the three Highest Peaks in the home nations: Scotland, England and Wales. Starting with Ben Nevis, we then head south for Scafell Pike and then finishing at Snowdon. Whilst it is spaced out over 2 days, don't be fooled! This is still a tough challenge! This is without doubt one of our most popular challenges.

A total of 480 miles of driving, and climbing a total of almost 3000 vertical metres, makes this a special kind of challenge, and not one that everyone is going to manage. You do at least have slightly longer on each mountain, and, thankfully, a bed to sleep in each evening! Why not give yourself a goal this year to train for? Why not say that you’re going to put yourself to the test, and join the Classic 3 Peaks Challenge? Join a group of like-minded adventurous individuals who will be taking part in this event, looking for a tough weekend, with a few laughs along the way to look back upon. This challenge could change your life - so be prepared!




Day 1: 


11:00 Team to meet at Chester Station for transfer to Fort William. 11.30 depart.

17.00 Pick up at Glasgow airport.

19.00 – evening meal on route with event briefing.

20:30 – 21.00 Expected arrival in Fort William and check in to accommodation.

21.30  Shop for any last minute snack top ups at local supermarket.

22.00 Check kit. Bed. 



Day 2: 


06:30 Wake up, get ready and get on bus. 3 min drive to breakfast cafe.

07.00 Breakfast then 5 mins drive to foot of Ben Nevis

08.00 Climb Ben Nevis.


14:00 Back at Minibus to set off for the Lake District. Lunch on bus. Drive of approximately 5.5 hours.

19:30 – Arrive at accommodation

20.00 - Dinner.



Day 3: 


06.00 – Breakfast and group together ready to depart.

06:30 – Depart for foot of Scafell Pike.

07:15 - Start ascent of Scafell Pike .

11:30 – Back at transport to depart for Snowdon. Lunch on bus. 4.5hrs approx. journey.

16:00 – Snack Stop

16:30 – Set off up Snowdon to summit around sunset (18.30) - via Pyg & Miners Track.

21:00 – Return to minibus ready to depart for Chester.

22.30 – Late check in to accommodation. Pizza order and celebrations if still standing!



Day 4: Sun 11th Oct


Short walk to Chester station at own leisure.

What is a Level 3.5 Trekking Challenge Like?

These challenges are either longer, higher, or span several days. In the case of single day events, you can expect up to 12 hours trekking. In the case of a multi day trek, you can expect lower daily durations - but of course - the effort is sustained over a longer period. You need to be keen on physical exercise for these events, and to enjoy taking exercise, and to do it regularly. Longer duration long haul treks are likely to be easier in terms of the physical walking, however, you will need to be more resilient - due to simple living conditions - ie using same clothes for several days, lack of washing facilities, simple food, and maybe camping - this forms an integral part of the challenge.


How Fit Do I need to be to join a Level 3.5 ‘Trek’?

You need to have good endurance for these events. You must be used to doing very long walks in the countryside - 7 hours + . You should be doing regular exercise - possibly with some running. Your running speed will be around 10-11 minute miling, and you should be able to run a minimum of 4 to five miles. If you do not run, you should be concentrating on other types of exercise - but for longer periods of time (i.e. sessions in excess of 1.5 hrs.) - these other forms of exercise should be at a moderate to high level.


Medical Issues

Please note, it is extremely important for this physical challenge that you are in good health. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, please consider carefully whether you should be joining the challenge. Please ensure you fill in the booking form accurately and honestly, this is important. In the case of serious conditions (epilepsy, diabetes, heart conditions, recent illness or operations), please discuss the challenge with your GP. Please also ensure you notify us of any allergies or similar.

You should be used to walking reasonable distances each day to contemplate this trek. It requires stamina and good aerobic fitness - but good willpower will also come in handy! Failure to disclose medical conditions is a serious omission - that could have serious repercussions on any of our challenges.

*All transfers provided by Adventure Cafe's transport provider throughout the challenge from pick up and drop off in Chester/Manchester/Glasgow airport**) on the friday/Sunday. The drivers are regulated by current DVSA drivers hours regulations and enforced driving/rest stops.

Please bring lunches for two days. Evening meals . Breakfasts are included in the price of the weekend and will be cooked – vegetarian breakfast is available (please be sure to request it at time of booking.

Safety Information

You will be briefed by your leader, before and during the challenge - but key items to remember are as follows:

1. Wear appropriate clothing - including proper footwear with ankle support.

2. Ensure your waterproofs are in good condition

3. Listen to and follow instructions from your leader.

4. Remain within visual contact of your leader at all times

5. Remain well fed and watered throughout the event.

6. In case of poor weather we normally continue to pursue the challenge - unless we deem it unsafe. This usually would entail high winds or exceptionally high water levels that would render river crossings dangerous.



Expect variable weather conditions. We are after all trekking at dark, during the day, in Scotland, England and in Wales. So be prepared. We may encounter scorching temperatures but equally freezing cold or even snow (Especially in May on Ben Nevis) pack at both ends of the spectrum. Especially expect rain at some time… all three mountains are on the Western Seaboard and hence bear the brunt of prevailing weather systems coming in moisture laden from the Atlantic.
